How does the process of obtaining a Polish passport take place?

01

Assessment of grounds and legal situation

The work starts with analysing your current situation - checking on what grounds you can claim Polish citizenship: long-term residence, origin, marriage or other grounds. The lawyer examines your documents, identifies possible discrepancies and determines the best course of action.

02

Collecting and preparing documents

Once the legal grounds have been confirmed, the preparation of the dossier begins. All necessary documents are translated and certified, and applications are prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Polish authorities. At the same time, proof of language competence, income, residence and other key criteria are prepared. The final package is checked for compliance with the law before submission.

03

Submission of the application and administrative review

The finished case is sent to the relevant authority - the voivodeship or the Office for Foreigners, depending on the situation. The application is registered, the documents are checked and an interview may be scheduled. Then you have to wait for the official decision, the period of which depends on the basis and region of submission.

04

Citizenship application

After receiving a successful decision, you receive a notification and complete the procedure on the territory of Poland. If necessary, you take an oath ceremony. After that you are officially entered into the register of citizens of the country and your status is recorded in the state databases.

05

Processing of Polish citizen`s documents

At the final stage you draw up your passport and identity card (Dowód osobisty), as well as, if necessary, a tax number and registration in the ZUS. From this moment on, you have all the rights of a Polish and EU citizen - including the ability to travel, study, work and do business freely in other countries of the European Union.
