The process of obtaining Czech citizenship

01

Preparation stage

At the first stage, the specialist analyses whether the applicant's situation fits one of the grounds for Czech citizenship. The following options are considered: naturalisation, descent, marriage to a Czech citizen or long-term residence. The documents are also checked for compliance with the legal requirements and an optimal immigration strategy is formed.

02

Formation of a dossier for the application

If the basic conditions are fulfilled, the documentation package begins to be prepared. This stage includes collecting certificates, translations, notarisation, as well as filling in questionnaires and applications for submission to the Czech Ministry of Interior. It is important to confirm the level of integration into society and financial solvency. All materials are subject to a final legal check.

03

Submission of an application to the Ministry of the Interior

Documents are filed at the applicant's place of residence. After registration, the official examination of the case begins. It is obligatory to verify the authenticity of the documents, interview and pass an examination on the knowledge of the Czech language (at least B1) and basic information about the country. The waiting period for a decision can be from six months to a year.

04

Completing the procedure in the Czech Republic

If the application is submitted from abroad, after approval, a personal arrival in the country is required. The decision to grant citizenship is signed on the spot and, if necessary, the oath of allegiance to the Czech Republic is taken. Next, a personal identification number - Rodné číslo - is issued, which is necessary for obtaining national documents.

05

Final stage

The final stage includes the issue of a Czech passport and Občanský průkaz - an internal citizenship card. Registration in the tax and social systems is also carried out. The new citizen gets access to all opportunities within the EU: freedom of movement, work, education, health care and financial instruments - on equal terms with other EU citizens.
